Lessons from this episode? Sometimes, the best place to hide is invisible.
Since the fool’s betrayal Menagerie, our heroes have been dealing with a man who has tampered with teleportation circles, making them cross all levels of the dungeon. This episode reveals who is doing: boxxo.
Of course, this is not to say that Boxxo is ultimately responsible. Instead, in the battle with the fool, a magic mark is placed on him, which is related to any teleportation he is involved in. Why didn’t our heroes notice this mark? Well, it’s not sad when it’s on an eight-foot-tall vending machine, and most of our heroes seem to be under the six-foot-tall mark. (Even director Bear can only match Boxxo).
With this mystery, Boxxo, Lamis and Hulemy discover a class they have never seen before: the dark forest. Basically, all the monsters on this floor are plant-based, and the forest itself is antagonistic to the adventurer. Like other floors, those who work with Netherlord force monsters to attack (including the boss of the floor), but survivors are able to drive monsters away by using fire.
Of course, like in other classes, it is safe to say that someone controls the monster. However, the logic of how to find this collaborator is confusing. Watching it first seems to make sense. Our heroes have Kikoyu distribute Boxxo’s food, touching everyone’s food “accidentally” and reading their ideas. The question is not the plan, but why they came up with it in the first place.
So far, the Netherlands collaborators who control monsters on each floor have been hidden within the Monster Horde. However, this time, Director Bell seems certain that not only are they not getting along with monsters in the wild, but they are also traitors, not from outside the dungeon. We have never given any reason, even if he is proven to be correct, he will think so.
Then there was the strange idea that Netherlord personally recruited a low-level adventurer. Despite the supposed intention to take over the entire dungeon, kill everyone in it, and form a army of monsters, he obviously has time to become a human, shifting around the town until he learns of the gambling problems of the young adventurer, and then turns her into a traitor by paying off his debts. (One person on the level died for her own actions, of course, and that doesn’t mean she has any debtor to pay.) When he has free time to easily delegate such trivia, it doesn’t make our big bad guy look capable.
The final issue explained in this episode is the setup for next week. When older people and children are transformed into trees by bosses on the floor, they are still relatively safe. Monsters will no longer attack the village with the removal of the traitors. Bosses who can handle the floor at any time in the future (release villagers from the curse), and in addition, our heroes are hanging out to stop Netherlord and Menagerie of Fools. But instead of moving forward, Lamis and Boxxo were ready to take over as bosses on the floor, and no one seemed to object to the move.
All in all, it’s an episode, like too many episodes from the original novel on the floor of the tailoring room. What happened is easy to follow, but there is never a mention of the much rationality behind our hero and villain actions. Sadly, this makes this episode the weakest episode of the season so far. Hopefully next week’s situation will return to the usual standards of anime.
•Sorry to break it down to Boxxo. You have been the protagonist of the harem anime for a while.
•Is there a flamethrower vending machine?
•How did Dr. Bear and others guess where Boxxo and his friends went?
•They are indeed making fun of the last two members of the fool. I hope we will see them soon.
