In the first three episodes of the new season, it’s safe to say that our heroes are getting bullshit. The initial preemptive attack on Lord Demon General has become a defensive battle. Boxxo’s village has been flooded by monsters. Most of the population has been killed, and only the guild headquarters remains safe. Now our vending machines and his friends are doing everything they can to sustain life and get back to the village.
All of this brings up a darker, more desperate tone in the series. Regardless of the dangers in the dungeon, the village is always a safe place (except for one or two thieves). Everyone is friendly to BoxXo, where he, Lammis and Hulemy set up their home for themselves. Now, everything is gone.
From a character’s point of view, Ramis is very much the focus of these plots. She is dealing with some personal trauma. First, the idea that her best friend Munami, in the village, could be killed proved that she was so major attention for her that she was not allowed to fight. Then, when it was revealed that Munami was one of the survivors, Lammis was almost immediately trapped in the survivors.
The attack marked the second time Ramis’ hometown was destroyed by monsters. Last time, only she and Horimi survived. Now, at least a few can be protected. This drove her to overwork on a large scale to try to do what she can’t do now. Boxxo spoke to her in his own words for the first time, and it was just that Boxxo strengthened his connection with her, which freed her from self-destruction.
But that’s not all. In episode three, Lammis and others discover that the person behind the attack on the village (the person who uses magic to control monsters) is the same person who destroys Lammis’s village as a child. This furiously made her an obstacle for Boxxo, several powerful adventurers, and the right word from director Bear, prevented her from murdering the man on the spot. Even then, only Boxxo’s unexpected proposal to her can help her restore some psychological stability.
Despite this, the performance is still serious, but most of the time still manages to get back to a lighter tone. Boxxo continues to support those around him, especially refugees who have lost everything. He is a highlight of their lives, providing food and snacks in addition to essentials like water.
This season, BoxXo has carried out a new, signed air attack by turning into the world’s largest vending machine (a literal ice machine building) and landing on the enemy. These struggles can also redefine BoxXo’s limitations, enhancing his new coin’s precious coins, how expensive his new skills are.
All in all, the beginning of this season is a good start. It has all the creativity of season one, as well as Lammis’ character development. My only complaint so far is that there’s a lot going on in her three episodes, and she never really had any time to realize her feelings until her next personal crisis took over. Hopefully, when all of this is done, she will have time to sit down and settle herself (and probably have a good cry).
