Tokyo Game Show Expands to 5 Days in 2026 – News

The opening ceremony of this year’s Tokyo Game Show event was announced on Thursday that the event will expand from four to five days next year. This includes two working days, which are open to industry professionals as before, but now there are three open days to the public. Next year’s event will take place from September 17 to September 21, which will be a public holiday in Japan (a day of respect for age).
The Tokyo Games show began with a three-day competition in 1996, expanded to a two-year annual event in 1997 (spring and autumn), shortening the annual three-day event in 2002 and a four-day event in 2007.
Staff also announced that 263,101 people participated in this year’s event. 274,739 participated in the 2024 event and 243,238 join 2023 Events. This year, 52,352 people participated on Thursday (first weekdays), 54,779 on Friday, 77,415 on Saturday (first public day) and 78,555 on Sunday.
Tokyo Game Show 2025 runs on Chiba Makuhari Messe Center from September 25th to 28th. This year’s theme is “Unlimited, never-seen playgrounds”. 1,136 companies and organizations from 47 countries showcased their latest products, all of which were record-breaking highest points for the show.
