Episode 11 – Anne Shirley

If it’s a first-year teacher there’s the fact that you always want students like Paul Irving but end up with students like Anthony Pye. If there is a second fact, it is that nothing can compare to the embarrassment of first class. Anne’s first day as Miss Shirley at Avonlea School, even without the people involved, gathered from the students in the seat to her struggles, trying to balance classroom management with actual teaching, I expected this episode, I expected this episode, the first batch of the second book in the LM Montgomery series, Anne leaves Avonleaspend more time at school (this is “Avonlea Village Revolution Society”). Anne Shirley My expectations turned my expectations in the exact opposite direction of this episode, and I can’t say I was upset about it. The first ten episodes made Anne’s circle quite small, even because all the church debris were trimmed or completely cut off, and Aunt Josephine was cut off. (Yes, I’m still in pain.) It makes sense to expand Anne’s world because now she is a working woman, functionally adult, and her social expectations of her have changed.

One of these changes seems destined to disappoint Diana. She and Jane are very happy that Anne and Gilbert are close friends now, and at least Diana is very much looking to see them change their relationship and even warmer. Unfortunately for her, Anne now has zero interest in Gilbert, although it is safe to say that he feels the opposite. Gilbert may not be completely nailed to Anne anymore – after all, he interacts with her regularly – but his way Looks Everything she said, especially at the end of the plot, he yelled in the novel that one of her lines turned into a silent thought. I don’t mind, and I think it’s better for modern audiences because, speaking out loud, we want to know why Anne doesn’t feel about him on Earth. However, what he thought about himself showed that he had patience with her and waited for her to prepare to hear it.

In the school scene and Anne and Diana bring towns to Avis’ subscribers, this episode excels at Montgomery’s ability to write realistic descriptions of life in a small town in Northeast China. New England or Maritime, the same characters are everywhere in these places, which is proven by my experience of growing up a hundred years after Anne. In a place where everyone recalls the most awkward things you have done (slate breaks will always bother Anne) or you have been doing stupid things (like selling your neighbor’s cattle), it’s hard to transition to adulthood in a place where everyone recalls the most awkward things you have done. As she told Gilbert and Jane, Anne’s desire to be taken seriously was haunted by her past, and she was very aware of it. They started with adults in new towns and no one knew them. Anne didn’t have that luxury, and while she was happy to stay on the green gable with Marila, part of her might feel sad because she didn’t have the chance to go further. Neighbors like Miss Eliza reminded her why she chose to stay, which may not help.

But, like experiencing the gap between high school and college, Anne and Gilbert’s teaching allows them to think about what they want to do. Anne and Miss Rumphius (from Barbara Cooney’s picture book of the same name), hope to make the world more beautiful. Gilbert wanted to be a doctor so he could help people, which fully illustrates how much he has grown up since the “carrot” remarks. They are still growing, which is why I chose to believe that art makes girls’ hair lower, and it all should stop the moment they enter the labor force. (Josie’s skirt is too short for her age.) It’s a visual reminder that they are not adults yet.

This episode covers the first seven chapters Anne leaves Avonleathis is the reason for the attention. It can better acknowledge its skip (such as the bull event), but the speed is also greatly increased. I know why they might want to read the third book, Annie on the islandbut I hope we can separate three course At least every novel. But I will still take what I can get.
