Live-action series adaptation of web comic insiders Its lineup is undergoing major changes.
According to a report by Korean entertainment media Xports News on October 16, a representative of production company Hive Media Corp confirmed that actor Lee Sung-min is currently in talks to join the series, while director Wan-il Mo and actor Kyo-hwan Koo have withdrawn from the project.
Adapted from an unfinished webtoon created by Tae-ho Yoon, who is famous for webtoons such as Yahoo and Unsheng: an incomplete life, insiders It was previously adapted into the 2015 hit film of the same name. The new series aims to reimagine the story ten years later with a new cast and direction.
The story follows a network of powerful figures – a presidential candidate, a corporate tycoon and a media strategist – who are embroiled in egregious political corruption and backdoor dealings. A small-time lawman who once served them is made a scapegoat when a secret slush fund scheme is exposed, leaving him heartbroken and seeking revenge.
Meanwhile, an ambitious prosecutor with no influential background is given a rare opportunity to take down the country’s largest corruption ring, but his investigation is derailed. When the two men’s paths collide, each driven by their own sense of justice and ambition, a dangerous power struggle unfolds beneath the surface of politics, money and the media.
Actor Song Kang-ho, who was originally cast as political power broker Lee Kang-hee, dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. The role has now been offered to Lee Sung-min.
Meanwhile, Ji-hoon Ju has been brought on to replace Kyo-hwan Koo, who was originally set to play Sang-gu Ahn, a gangster-turned-whistleblower. Ju’s agency confirmed that he is “reviewing the offer.”
The new live-action series was originally planned to be two seasons, but will now be produced as a single 12-episode season. Broadcast discussions are currently underway with JTBC.
