The story unfolds in these early episodes one punch man Season three also falls far short of the appeal of the original. We’ve gone from Saitama proactively telling people to shut up when they spend too much time promoting their backstories and motivations, to the Mountain Clash between the rival Heroes and Monsters Associations, with both sides dealing with members who are sabotaging them from within. That’s not to say that this kind of political intrigue can’t play a role in an action-focused story — as Hunter×Hunter and one piece Proving they can – but this writing isn’t one punch man’s strong point, it feels dissonant with the tone previously established.

I also don’t think the werewolf is a foil to Saitama the show seems to be setting up. I understand that his character arc is about questioning the morality of this society and how the hero functionally becomes the police in order to maintain the status quo that creates in-groups and out-groups, but I don’t think the anime has the writing chops to explore these themes thoroughly. Now, season three one punch man It feels like it only exists because the first season was too successful not to make more, and I very much hope that some of the passion and expertise that made the first season so beloved will soon surface in this one.
