Boy, I’m glad the show finally advanced the plot, while reminding me that it was just a detour that kept me from enjoying it. I had a lot of questions about the first half of this episode because it felt like I was cheated on thinking I was watching what was premiered this season. I don’t know why the actors came back in Naofumi’s village and he would regroup when he started with a party that was going to attend Q”Ten Lo. But after spending five episodes waiting for the boat, did he just randomly decide that he needed to reshape the party? There is no real reason for the show. Naofumi spoke as if he was just deciding where everyone needed to go. What would happen if he had just gotten on the boat first? After settling in that mini arc with the White Tiger siblings, the author’s whole situation screamed and changed his mind.
Speaking of siblings, why do they give food to the former king? They didn’t know he was their uncle, right? The Queen even confirmed this, but his sister was their mom, so they knew the dish knew what it meant to him? Is it Naofumi’s idea? I have no idea. The show has kept everyone up to speed before moving on to the real arc of this season, and I hope all of these threads will be tied up in the future. Sorry, but the Queen’s death mentions about the Kingdom of Syria’s help in fighting Phoenix is not enough to justify putting it on us. Speaking of which, I will never see this Phoenix animation, right?
Most of the rest of the episode is to visit this new land. I’m glad I’ve got an explanation of why these orcs in particular seem unaffected by Cardinal weapons and how much of them are related to Raphtalia’s family. I was finally curious about the situation where her family was eventually in such a terrible situation and needed to leave home first. I think that should be the emotional core of the rest of the season, right? But given the way the show goes, I wouldn’t be surprised if everything suddenly had something to do with Sadeena’s backstory or something, and Raphtalia had little to say about the matter. To tell a story that is ultimately just a straightforward, why does this show put plot points together so badly?
