Episodes 1-3 – Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra

Once a novelty that was more or less limited to titles .hack (My beloved) and Swordsman Onlinethe anime about “If the protagonist, but Isekai enters the video game world” has now become De Rigueur, and you can reliably expect to see at least some of these titles in a given year. Only one recent example was listed, just a few months ago, we had a buzzing like From bureaucrats to villains: dad is reincarnated! What I want to get here is that it is now surrounded by more competition, and it is much harder than it was before in anime – and, with the advent of anime, they will be in a tough struggle to get interest and attention even when these anime did appear ten years ago. It is in this landscape that we get Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra This season.

We only have three episodes mynogh So far, it has been clear what its advantages and disadvantages lie. Let’s start with its biggest professionals: When you watch anime about trucks-Kun suddenly throws you into the video game world, the game in question is almost always (MMO) RPG (ex:ex: .hack //Signature,,,,, Swordsman Online,,,,, Log Horizon), or date simulation (for example: almost every anime with a vicious theme). Game world mynoghOn the other hand, it’s a strategy game similar to 4x – the obvious comparison is Sid Meier’s Civilization. They are not direct comparisons, but since I played more, I couldn’t help but think of games like this Planet Zoo and Roller Coaster Tycoon. Either way, you get it: this kind of anime takes place in the world of strategy games. While I can think of many anime games (or games with at least major strategic elements) that play a major role or are the main themes (e.g.: Yu-Gi-Oh!,,,,, No games, no life,,,,, Code geass), at least above my head, I can’t think of other anime specially set in the Strategy Video Game world, but if I forget anything, please let me know.

Even if you think of all video games as being a standout, while not to say they don’t exist, the anime list is even a kind of anime list that builds civilizations, towns, kingdoms, country, etc., and isn’t as you’d expect. So basically, while some basic information about it might make you think, mynoghActually, considering everything, there are actually something unique. And if it continues along this path, it might be a good, satisfying scratch for the itch in the anime realm.

But, unfortunately, don’t read all of this and make yourself very excited about this anime. Because it all brings us into mynoghBy far, the biggest scam: its weak execution is inconsistent with the strength of its ideas. To be fair: We only have three episodes and there is still a lot of time to change. As usual, I just want to throw away a bunch of ketchup on my words so I can eat them. But at least for these introductory episodes, none of these characters show much (if any) in terms of personality. The visuals are universal and impressive. And we can hardly see any storytelling. Nothing really excites me to watch what happened in the next episode. Just no spices.

Especially the lack of interesting characters is disappointing. In the only moment we actually see the character or identity deep inside them, our protagonists (our Isekai-ee) and Atou (his Waifu) not only know that they are in the game world, but seem to be excited that even if they have begun to build an evil kingdom, they will build an evil kingdom due to certain shortcomings. And it’s hard to beat villains who like bad guys’ self-awareness. But this is the first episode – we have never seen it from them since, at least to some extent, not equal any substance.

I really hope mynogh It only takes a few episodes to build your own setup and it will get better forward because I think it might be very interesting. The potential is great, it just lost itself in its emanation, or at least, I hope it has been lost and we will soon stumble upon it. Political conspiracy can intensify when the protagonist becomes a bigger presence in his own world, as does the (much-needed) excitement in this anime.
