This is the best episode Tojima wants to become a Kamen Rider So far. This is a perfect summary of the show, both in terms of action and humor.

At the beginning of the story, our heroes have just beaten a group of shocked warriors to a pulp – and honestly, Yukari Risu’s reaction is the most meaningful. The Shocker Warriors possess true super strength. In this world without Kamen Riders, they are basically unbeatable. It’s impossible for any of them to lose a battle, let alone be wiped out with a single attack each. However, the group arrived – a boy and a girl in their twenties, and a man in his forties – and it was over in an instant.

It’s also worth noting that without the unexpected element of discovering that Shock was real to distract them, our heroes fare much better than they did the first time they fought. Of course, once the real monster appears on the battlefield, they immediately fall back into a state of half-fearful, half-reverent torpor—even as they try to fight it.

This in turn allows to reveal our final results kamen rider Hero Mitsuha plays the knight. He gets his “big damn hero moment” and the return of his running gags – namely, that while he’s able to immobilize the monster, instead of attacking it or running away to regroup, he decides this is the perfect time to tell the third part of his and his brother’s origin story. Through it we learn that he is exactly like his brother and is likely the more gifted of the two. Unfortunately, the five-year age gap has always put him at a slight disadvantage.

We also learn that Kazuha is even crazier than Tojima and Yuriko. After all, while they’ve transformed themselves into something closer to the characters they idolize, they’ve never tried to force the characters on others, let alone break someone’s arm to make them more “accurate.”

Of course, taking a five-minute break for exposition dialogue already has the desired outcome, as the Spider-Man monster is freed and uses his powers to force Yukari Risu to kill Mitsuha. So the restaurant manager proposed to his high school girlfriend — breaking the spell. Obvious issues aside, it’s nice to see the power of love able to overcome all odds, even in this crazy world.

So in the end, we’re left with our already outmatched heroes fighting against a fully transformed Spider-Man. Are they capable of taking out a creature with more raw power than two tanks? We’ll have to see next week.
