Episode 21 – Kaiju No. 8 Season 2

Episode 21 Kaiju No. 8 In quiet moments, Kafka was successfully reconnected with the rest of the cast.

The calm movement of this week was a welcome calm before the storm. There are no big monster battles on the card this week, instead we have time to get tensions built and spend more time with Kafka, both of which are well handled. Silence gives actors time to talk about things and trouble the future, even if the present seems peaceful. They are preparing for what is coming, psychologically and emotionally, and are happy to have this reflection on what happened before the end of the season.

Because it’s obvious that we’re approaching orgasm. Part of this is due to the number of plots. But, not only that. The steady growth of strange sightings of strange sightings that were previously unheard of, is laying the foundation for an explosive ending. These kaijus are increasingly deviating from weapons and monsters that are out of the box. We have beasts absorbed the tornado of marine creatures and the weird polyhedra, and the faces stick out from every aspect. I like the weirdness here because it returns to the strangeness of the early Ultra-kaiju. This is far from giant ants and universal mole beasts compared to the characteristics of this season, while maintaining a different and alien.

Kafka also received a lot of attention this week, which is great. I will continue to beat this drum, but I don’t think it’s the best call in the mid-season when I quarantined him for so long. On the other hand, he did actually miss him when he saw his team reconnecting with the outside world. And we have more insight into the early days of Kafka and Mina, when they faced Kaiju’s threat when they were young. Welcome these scenes, I like all the little touches (like Kafka’s trembling hands, even though he wears a brave face). It all blends together, making Kafka a big character focus.

Still, I am worried about the rhythm of some stretching exercises. I hope Kafka plays a role in the finale, I think he will, but the scale of the upcoming battle seems to be out of his alliance. His alliance seems to be purely something he learned from hand combat, which I think will force him to bring out his 8 abilities. I hope there is more focus on his training, so we know what he does, except for a few scenes in Hoshina, which is mostly a short exercise. In my opinion, this makes him going to have to rely on his 8 abilities, which is too obvious.
