This is true in the second half of the year. “Escape” follows Nene and Kou through two very different halves that somehow seamlessly sew together, showing the flexible scope of this story.
After the severance, half of the cast remained trapped on the other side and was invisible. Sakura delivers introductory speeches instead of being like the usual AOI and keeps it low-key, while Nene and Kou experience the world in the way most of us: as our dead friends stay dead. Some parts of Mitsubishi’s character have never changed (for example, when he calls his mom a “terrible carrot companion”, like he always refuted Nene or Kou), but some aspects of his personality only make sense when his mom and friends share their corresponding puzzles. This is also the first time we learned about the reason why Mitsubishi was killed. Of course, that’s the truck – Kun. “Mitsubishi is gone,” Qum said quietly, even though I’m sure we’ll see the sharp phantom in an episode or two, it feels like real sadness. I love this episode slowly changing the genre – when I realize it is no longer a sad portrait, but a weird story about the haunted house is already standing in front of it. It is an old story that has gone beyond the metaphor and become a downright classic: the house so effectively attracts victims who think they will enter the interior with their own free will. I think the house is red, even Hanako-kun in the toilet Red is first created as a comic and is the ideal color for the warm, saturated color scheme of the anime. The slim contrast of the shady interior with the parking-style red windows is a great choice for enhancing the drama. Once the young Amane (or Tsukasa?) emerges, a mystery is solved while raising a hundred other questions. This is a great hook to guarantee that I’ve been wondering about Red House all week.
