If I compared Anne to Joe Parade last week Little womanthis week she’s even more Lizzie Bennet Pride and prejudice. Charlie Sloane’s proposal scenario does not quite Played like Mr. Darcy’s disastrous proposal, but it’s not hard to see the similarities–like his more noble ex, Charlie raises his hand in a way that Anne can’t accept, mainly because he immaturely rejects her. Will you tell your dad, Charlie? Should Anne thank her for being an orphan? step leaveCharlie Sloane, you’re in pain little twit.
To be fair, being orphans is usually an orphan who failed individually in the 19th and early 20th centuries, as if the orphan party had personally murdered their parents. (Lemon laughs mocking with this attitude A series of unfortunate events. Indeed, it was impossible for Charlie to provide Anne to his hand in any way that could induce her to accept it.
So these are two proposals rejected. Technically speaking, as readers, there should be one-third of them Annie on the island Know. But, in keeping with the trend of adapting the second and second novels, the episode somehow jumps around the book. Episode 18 covers Chapters Nine and Ten, and then rushes to get used to Chapter 21. The preview clearly shows that they will be back to next week’s Chapter 12, so this may just be reordering, not actually intending to skip the key position of the story. Honestly, this is a good plot. It shows Anne’s excellent job of visiting the house where she was born and how she took her roots. She will always be Anne of the Green Gables, but now she has a firm sense of where she comes from. Matthew and Marilla provide her with a place and identity, but without a foundation. I won’t say it’s hindering her growth. She has always been very clear about who she is. But now she also knows where she comes from, and most importantly, she is wanted and loved. This can’t be underestimated – especially given Charlie’s bastard comment about Anne being an orphan.
Anne is also about to embark on a new stage of her life, as she feels more at ease with her legacy. Patty’s dream of status is touched (Chinese dogs and everyone; how are those people?), Stella comes to Redmond, and the ladies will take charge of their lives. It was an exciting feeling for Anne, Phil and Paris, and in many ways, the possibility of anyone being more exciting. But, as the preview for the following week shows, there are no roses without thorns, and flashbacks of Anne’s parents having fever as babies may be more predictive than anyone wants.
