Episode 17 – My Dress-Up Darling Season 2

This episode rejuvenates the important part of my soul. I don’t even know where to start because this impressive plot is full of charm, love and character development. It covers mainly two locations, and for the larger narrative, it is the setting of the school festival. I love all the details that spread throughout the process. It really feels like I’m enjoying something different every minute.

The tiny round-trip between Marin and Gojo about Bento’s box made me smile like an idiot. I liked that this show didn’t beat Marlin’s cooking to joke. Interestingly, Gojo is rightfully worried about any fried and unhealthy food she was going to prepare for him, just making him happy because it turned out to be a very simple rice. I like the irony that the little things he admired ended up adding to Marin’s obsession because food was obviously a love language for her, and she ended up doing exactly what he was worried about to do. It was just that he smiled gently on the dining table and tried to eat everything Marin made for him healthily, which was probably the funniest joke in the whole episode.

The show does indeed respect the wisdom of the audience, because there are a lot of small things that have too much emotional weight in the context of how characters interact with each other. I love how girls think about Marin’s performance, and the camera keeps cutting to the job of Gojo wearing suits. You could say he was listening to every word they were saying at work and he just liked the conversation until he was ready to attend. I also like the fact that even his speech caught him off guard because you feel like this guy might not be talking to anyone other than his grandfather.

Of course, this ended up in the last few minutes, and Gojo finally took the next step. We foreshadowed this from the beginning, and his grandfather pointed out that it is impossible to run the doll business entirely by yourself because you need a team of people working in different parts of the doll. If they don’t have multiple people doing all these little details, they will never be able to reach the quota and they will go bankrupt. I just fell in love with the fact that Clover makes the puppets of the main characters, explaining the process with a simple one-minute puppet show. They don’t need to do this, but they do it because the show’s staff may have the same extra information as Marlin, which is arguably truly mundane. It’s a show that appreciates small details, but also wants to make everything as exciting and engaged as the character feels right now.

Like Gojo, I passively listen to people’s conversations while working. I could sit in those moments of silence and awkwardness, like when Marin tried to sew the buttons herself, because she was still looking for a new way to get involved. The animation is like Marin’s crazy about his love gojo, and bounces off the wall like Marin. In this show, everything has a purpose. Gojo finally reached out and asked for help as he realized that everyone wanted the final product to be amazing. Marin’s last shot just looked at Gojo and smiled because she knew the way his thinking process worked at this point felt great. I love this show so much that every week it really turns into your influx.
