Episode 12 From the old Bangpkin to the master swordsman Ended a season finale with a steady position, but no more than that.
Looking back, I realized that I forgot to mention Rose’s betrayal in the last revision last week. With me, it happens when you make a process revision, but forget to add it back. Still, it worked in the end because I think the exciting events made Rose a little unique compared to her peers, as she was a former student who ended up building a different relationship with Beryl. It turns out that by the end of this episode, this is not…not completely undoed, but has been effectively neutralized.
Rose’s motivation is not her own. The battle has no real consequences for her, as she and Beryl live without major damage, and he accepts her apology. By the end, everyone’s friends came again, and while the overall political tensions remained, the basic relationship between Berill and Ross was no different from all other former students. The more things change…
For this, the battle itself is very solid. Back and forth decent, but lack of roses or green green has to give up anything to resolve the battle or the lasting hostility between them feels somewhat convenient. However, the moment between Berill and Mayvey was touched and I think he was good for his parents’ situation.
I am glad this season has at least established the conflict between the nobles and the pope, which is an ongoing concern. Hopefully there will be more bets next season. I also hope and pray for new dynamics than we get between Beryl and previous students – maybe some he doesn’t care or like him, maybe some people hate his training, maybe one or two students who have never really been anywhere in their lives… something! Anything! In episode 12, there are too many revolving doors that are endlessly pouring into the former students. I hope I don’t have to endure it all next season.
