Episode 12 – Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive?

I won’t be disappointed by moving in a direction I don’t like. I’m trying to understand what it is doing and judge its ability to achieve its goals. I believe this show will end with a time beat. They will learn to make decisions between making early adult decisions to ensure that the future can be realized together or prioritize a romantic future. There are many precedents for the show to move in that direction.

The ending isn’t necessarily bad, but everything is messy. There is nothing satisfying about how it solves the character arc. Perhaps it was caused by the anime trying to determine the ending, and the light novel is still in progress. It feels like there is a specific way for creators to want things to end. However, I’m grateful that the story we got was simple and could be wrapped up in twelve episodes.

Yu and Himari’s character resolution should be reversed. Strangely, how softly we hesitate throughout the show, and speeches that are unfair to anyone else. Yes, he is currently hesitating and it is obvious that he has no point of integrity, but he always ends up being true to his feelings. The problem is that he tries to balance these feelings with his dreams and has not been resolved due to his immaturity. His role should be to choose one, or to figure out the way he has both. Instead, the story almost made him unfair to Himari because he didn’t know how he felt, and that’s what she was doing, not him.

Himari should be more honest with her feelings and realize that her indecision is causing problems. If she didn’t spend too much time confusing you, there’s a good chance he’d figure it out earlier. Almost all of the major narrative decisions she made throughout the show were based on pure selfishness. Until the end, the show never really condemned her actions. The show decided to focus on her insecurity and how she was afraid that she wouldn’t have as much of what she contributed to Yu as a partner. That was something raised, but it was by no means the main content of her question. We could have shown how her insecurity prevented her from admitting how she felt because she felt she wasn’t good enough. Almost all of her problems were due to her immaturity and her inability to admit what she wanted. Until the end, she was a self-destructive character, not a tragic victim of her insecurity.

Then everything can be solved at the end. This is some of the most blatant hand-wave storytelling I’ve seen in a long time. The side characters appear at the last minute to save a day. Yu and Himari become a couple, and each of them lives a happy life. This is a toothless ending. This ending makes me feel like I’m wasting time because the conclusions of our potential clients are irrelevant. I’m not even sure what they came to. What are the main problems they overcome without hosting Himari already moving abroad? Will she reduce insecurity?

I love Yu’s talk, ending with it about exploring different options and getting your dreams to come true, rather than focusing on one goal so that you cut everything else. But that didn’t make money, and I’m not sure what that information means in the context of the show itself. Perhaps the moral lesson is that you should be allowed to live your own life and pursue your passion or love as you wish. any.

Throughout the last episode, I kept asking myself two questions. The first is “Why is this soundtrack so good?” I didn’t comment as much on this, but this is probably one of my favorite soundtracks this season because of how it elicits this real emotion. The second question is “Where is all this?” I might peek at the light novel for answers. Looking back on the whole show, I didn’t get a lot of stuff. It’s not bad, there are some nice character moments with solid comedy, but I won’t remember this show once the new anime season begins.
