Episode 1142 piece is an important milestone for the cavalry that can increase the bet without having to move the plot completely.
I think it’s possible to say that both of these things happened and nothing happened this week piece. The big event is clear enough: Elbaph’s giant lands, Pacificas continue to stop the navy, and Vegapunk finally enters that sweet night. Not enough to update the Wikis, and ask yourself, “Where are you when you see X happening”. At the same time, the fundamentals of the situation have not changed dramatically. Vegapunk almost died in the previous episode, with little hope of survival. So it’s more like punctuation than anything else. The giants are already approaching and causing a lot of damage. Now they just got ashore. The battle between Luffy, Bosarino and Saturn has not fully recovered last week and hasn’t really gone anywhere this week.
It’s certainly a weird mixture.
Overall, this is very positive. Vegapunk’s death represents an interesting bookend, and it’s been a long journey. Vegapunk is an almost mythical character in the world piecefrom a world-building perspective, is probably the top five of the most important roles. He has been a huge promoter and waver in building world government powers, but has been a name for decades. At this point, we not only meet him, but also separate from him, marking the end of a strange and mysterious journey to discovery. I don’t know if anyone can predict all the twists and turns he takes us or Straw Hat – given that he’s already passed his recording, he’s gone, he’s not done with us yet – but now he’s off the stage, it’s a heavy moment.
Even if not a lot of things happen, this episode looks good. The PAcifistas that explode on the coastline are more exciting and of course one of the most intensive actions and effects. But there are some fun moments like Vice Admiral Doll’s coolest way to ever be on the island, where she lit a cigarette. That’s all I need to enjoy this episode myself, and I know I’m not alone.
