Episode 11 From the old Bangpkin to the master swordsman More the same, so does my feelings.
I’m mainly kidding. Still, as far as I’m concerned, this week is very familiar. Not that nothing happened, but because things that I liked and disliked in the series both came up and caused the same reaction as before.
Rose and Allucia are the weakest parts of my plot. Well, most of the Rose, because I was very tired of that worship/interactive ex-student again, and his character is 80% “Golly Gee, I definitely love Master Beryl”. This week, there are at least some novelty that can help the lost kids and show some good deductive reasoning skills. I also think that given how good his teacher is, her country’s special care for children and orphans can explain why she’s idolized Berre. Still, the second rose from her walking into the frame that already knew was a lot of screen time: she loved Beryl because all his former students did.
Again, the ongoing political intrigue is more pleasing to me, and it is a continuation of the theme. The papal battle for power in different regions with the noble family was something of pseudo-Medieval-European drama. It provides us with a great battle scene in the wheat fields. The action is well-tempo and influential, but perhaps most importantly position. Simply set up the battle in the fields to create very compelling images, with all fighters dancing among long rows of golden cereals. A novel background can do a lot to make the battle memorable, even if the actual terrain does not create the diversity or interactive elements for the warriors.
