Episode 1 – Star Wars: Visions Volume 3

Duel: Revenge is the first of three sequels to the series Star Wars: Phantasm‘Season 1. built on duelwe once again find ourselves following “Ronin” and his robot B5-56 in a classic samurai movie Star Wars universe.

Original 13 minutes duel We’re left with a lot of questions about Ronin – the fact that he’s a Sith and not a Jedi doesn’t become apparent until nearly seven minutes into the show when he first draws his sword. However, while his goal is to ruthlessly hunt down the Sith in this world and take their kyber crystals as trophies, he is also far more benevolent than you’d expect from a Sith – both caring about the lives of villagers and even giving them a piece of his trophy before leaving.

returnAdding an extra 10 minutes of running time makes things a little clearer. Ronin is a former Sith who is currently on the hunt for Sith kyber crystals – though whether these crystals have any actual use other than as trophies is unclear. As this episode shows, while he may be an “ex-Sith,” the past will always catch up with you.

This episode isn’t just another battle between Ronin and a female Sith, but instead adds the Crusader Master – a Jedi more powerful than either Ronin or his target Anesan. What we get from here is your cliche (albeit well-executed) plot of enemies forced to work together against a greater enemy, with Ronin, Anisan, and the local criminal lowlifes battling a Jedi attack force.

From this setup, we get some solid sexual tension between Ronin and Anesan. It was clear that she had no personal animosity towards him and was even surprised that she was on his target list. Their interactions, whether in the shower or in battle, always have a slightly playful feel – and once the battle against the Jedi begins in earnest, they don’t even show signs of betraying each other. While the episode ends with the two continuing their bickering from the previous episode, it doesn’t feel serious – more of them teasing each other than an actual argument.

However, in all roles returnAmong them, the most interesting one is “The Grandmaster”. The Master, who was severely injured while fighting Ronin during the Sith Era, is a type of Jedi Knight more commonly seen in “Expanded Universe” stories (books, comics, games, etc.) than in TV shows and movies. While still couched in clichés of justice and defeating evil, the Master is a character seeking revenge, pure and simple. He doesn’t care about the lives of his men or civilians. In his own arrogance and bitterness, he believes that Ronin is evil and therefore, by opposing Ronin, he must be good.

However, as Ronin points out in the episode’s climax, the Master is more like a Sith at this point – especially compared to Anisan, who merely serves as a bodyguard. What’s even more tragic is that he’s more machine than human – the show tampered with his emotions at various points in the episode – and even in his final moments fails to recognize how far he’s truly fallen.

Of course we can’t talk about return Not to mention its impressive visual style. It’s all black and white except for things that use electricity (like lightsabers), and there’s really nothing like it. This is in turn supported by the stunning character designs Okazaki Takashihe seamlessly blended Japanese feudal atheism with sci-fi technology to create something both new and familiar. In addition, some additional kamikaze warrior Team, you have an anime worth watching for the visuals alone.

Having said that, there are some negatives return as well as. Visually, a black and white palette can be a hindrance many times. In scenes with lots of characters and detailed backgrounds, it’s easy to get lost in the visual noise – doubly so if there’s a lot of movement.

Although it might be a bit strange to talk about established lore in a plot that has as much plot as a samurai movie Star Warsit is important to remember it yes still Star Wars——This is the lens through which we view this story. a recognized fact Star Wars Catastrophic physical damage can in turn affect a person’s connection to the Force. This is why Anakin, despite being the “Chosen One” and possessing insane raw power, was unable to use Force lighting like Darth Vader – he was too physically damaged to do so. However, the Master, who was also damaged, was much faster than Ronin and Anesan through the use of Force technology (instead of any technology). It just doesn’t quite fit with what we know about the Force.

Ultimately, however, any complaints I have about this episode are just nitpicks. Duel: Revenge It’s pure fun from top to bottom. It has solid characters, great visual design, and jaw-droppingly complex action scenes. All in all, a fantastic start to the anthology series this season.
