Episode 6 – SANDA – Anime News Network

Just like the cool scar on the principal’s face, SandaThe seams are starting to show in episode six. Which is understandable, because as much as I appreciate the show for how openly it tackles the huge anxieties surrounding puberty, sexual discovery, and the social responsibilities that come with maturation. Navigating these feelings is a deeply personal experience that doesn’t map well into narrative. That being said, even if this episode’s resolution isn’t impressive, it still looks amazing, brings up more interesting ideas, and feels braver than any other show on the air right now.

Most of this episode is about Principal Da Shi and Sandawho overcame romantically induced Santa Claus performance anxiety by…committing to becoming more like an adult. I’m torn about this development because it feels a little unrelated to the emotional distress that caused the problem in the first place, but I’m also working through some of the anxiety in my own life by reminding myself that I’m an adult and should act like one. return, Sanda Thanks to this resolution, Santa got a cool-looking tracksuit-inspired outfit, so I can overlook the clunky details that led to this moment.

While the back and forth of this battle is uninspired, the animation is fantastic! I especially like how science saru As Oshibu becomes distraught, he deals with the stinging and oozing scars Sanda Implying that he is old. Seeing the red flesh beneath his skin as the stitches crawl across his Frankenstein-esque face is a really cool way to depict the moment, and I’m glad they went the extra mile to make it more visceral.

Sanda However, he does not win the battle, instead a visibly older woman and the head principal of his school, Tetsuru Toyo, steps in and uses her shocking military prowess to defuse the situation. Then she talked in detail with Sanda as Santa and the beginning of a mentor-mentee relationship between the two of them. I’m very interested in seeing how this dynamic between them develops and what impact it has on teenage development, since teenagers learn how to be adults by observing the adults in their lives. like two worlds Sanda Taking place in a world of our own that has somewhat forgotten this, I’m curious to see what kind of social commentary this new relationship will cause.

The post-credits scene is an awkward and painful conversation between Ono and Fuyumura after they are reunited, both of them having changed too much to connect like they once did. Fuyumura now has other relationships to rely on; post-pubescent Ono is more interested in sex and sexuality than ever before, something Fuyumura can’t replicate. The last shot of Ono standing alone in the nurse’s office Sanda Winter Village’s departure perfectly embodies the feelings of loneliness and isolation that can come from young people developing at a different rate than their peers.

Episode 6 Sanda It’s not perfect, but it’s very personal, which I think makes it better than perfect!
