Walt Disney Company and Webtoon Entertainment companies announced Monday that they signed a non-binding semester to develop a new digital comics platform.
The service will include over 35,000 comics from Disney’s portfolio, including Marvel, Star WarsPixar and 20th century studios Webtoon Original title. The platform will have vertical scrolling and traditional formats as well Webtoon Entertainment will build and operate the platform. The platform will also extend Marvel Unlimited, which allows current subscribers to access the new directory.
As part Disney+ Privileges plan, Disney+ Subscribers will be able to access selected title selections through the new app.
The two companies confirm that comics on the platform will be available globally, while the selected works are localized to WebtoonKorean and Japanese services.
In addition, Disney and Webtoon Agree Disney to acquire 2% equity shares Webtoon entertainment. Stock investment and platform collaboration meet the criteria for determination and standard ending.
