Episode 5 – May I Ask for One Final Thing?

You have to respect Scarlett’s love for this game. When faced with stuffing into a bag of meat those scum who exploited the kingdom, hurt her friends, and represented the worst side of human nature, she didn’t punch out the stuffing in the normal way. On such a luxurious occasion, Scarlett uses her magical powers to destroy the fabric of time and space, slowing time to 1/100 of its speed, and brutally tortures the Prime Minister’s bones and organs with superhuman precision and glee. Then, Scarlett gets the Prime Rockets treatment when the guy seemingly murders Prince Julius in front of her, only this time the show acknowledges the catastrophic effects of such gravity on the fragile human body. Quoting the coroner Jason Goes to Hell: The Last Friday: “In my professional opinion, this guy is deader than shit.” All thanks to Mad Dog Lady

At least, I hope that’s the case. I see Can I ask for one last thing? is a comedy, and Scarlett doesn’t actually go out of her way to be an out-and-out murderer, but for once, I wouldn’t mind seeing one of her victims explode like a blood-stuffed piñata. Instead, the guy was killed with poison new baddie, a bit weak. Maybe that’s what the spirit of the Halloween season does to me, though. Regardless, at least with one of the kingdom’s many slimeballs taken care of, Scarlett can…well, I don’t know if she can actually experience joy when she’s not wasting away the aristocratic trash inside and out, but she can at least take a breather and cheer up. After all, discovering that Tereza is actually a woman reincarnated from another world presents a challenge that may require some strategy to solve in addition to the usual use of glorious brute force. Of course, Prince Julius isn’t actually dead, so he still has some work to do to deal with this dark new threat.

As much as I hope Scarlett gets the satisfaction of taking out the Prime Minister herself, Tereza’s twist is my favorite development of the story so far, easily. It’s a brilliant take on a rapidly aging trope, and also provides a fitting foil for our heroine who has a chance to pose a real threat. Sure, we’ve seen that Scarlett can easily knock girls to the ground in short order, but Tereza’s knowledge and cunning are the real dangers. It’s the classic “brawn vs. brains” dichotomy, and it’s a great direction for the plot to take after indulging in Scarlett’s direct spankings thus far.

That said, the show’s production values are up this week, which is very much appreciated. We haven’t reached the heights of previous episodes again, but there’s no point in the “can I take down this asshole prince?” The visuals actively took me out of the experience, which is basically all I can ask for from an episode that doesn’t serve as a technical showcase. Furthermore, as we have learned over the past few weeks, Excuse me… Surprisingly, he’s very good at telling stories that don’t exclusively center around beatings, beatings, beatings, etc. In addition to the story developments surrounding Terenizza and the Dianist lore, we also get more interesting interactions between Scarlett and Julius. Of course, the fool would irritate Scarlett by emphasizing that he loves her as a “toy” and that he barely thinks of her “as a woman,” which of course leads to the request to give us the episode’s title. I just see this all as part of a particularly silly problem with their relationship, though. Scarlett and Julius are clearly made for each other Some capacity. Between now and next Tuesday, a lot of people will kill for the chance to have Scarlett give them an acid rant and then whip their asses.
