Episode 10 – Yaiba: Samurai Legend

After a few episodes, the increasingly weird villain this week, it’s finally time to have a big showdown between Yaiba and Onimaru… almost, almost. Although it seems like a wise move for Yaiba to plan to attack Onimaru’s castle from the sky and directly at him, the show would not be a proper battle if we had at least not a little stagnant. So, the episode ends up being distracted, but to its credit, it at least managed to be fun.

As everyone splits into groups, they all end up dealing with a bunch of bad guys called “The Four Devil Kings”. With a name like this, you might think the threat here is stronger than usual, but Yaiba: The Legendary Warrior Still a very stupid show. We got one of the stupidest bad guys imaginable. You might ask? These evil dark scourges include huge fishing fish, gorillas that turn into discounts on Superman and a giant chameleon dressed in Napoleon role play Named Chameleon Bonaparte (I can only pray Dubbing Do the right thing, give him an unexplained French accent because otherwise what the point is), the last two sounded interesting. Sayaka decides to place a trap so that Yaiba can catch him, and although this is mostly effective, he decides to turn to Yaiba, confusing her. Given how most of the interactions between Yaiba and Sayaka are done, I’ve done a solution here that involves some form of solution Fan Service The latter comes at the cost, so I was pleasantly surprised when she just asked them a math question and pointed out that only real people would get it wrong, because Yaiba then quickly defeated his impostor. It’s not a very interesting point, but it’s definitely better than the other options, and I at least did laugh out loud from it, so I’d say this part gets the job done.

Here, the bigger highlight is actually the battle with Superman Gorilla as he gets stuck with Musashi and Kojiro. Although it seems like an easy win for them, the two are each other’s throats so much that they soon start fighting each other, with poor chimpanzee Kent as the third round. In the middle of it all, Kojiro remembers that he was just stealing Yaiba’s sword here, and it was a great opportunity to make Musashi stand out, and he decided to work with the gorilla to knock him down. This team makes Kojiro’s victory almost certain, which is why it’s an interesting left wing when Kojiro’s final attack ends up accidentally knocking down the gorilla. The expressions on both of their faces almost say it all, and given how unexpected the development is, Kojiro has only one thing to do: saying it’s all about the plan, he’s just pretending to betray Musashi because he’ll never do anything bad to his new friends. Even though I predicted that Kojiro might end up pretending to be a real ally, I don’t think the show could dig out something interesting from it, which is any joke I’ve had about this show since it started. Although Musashi decided to currently decide to buy Kojiro’s story, it’s obvious that this won’t be the last time he has to prove his “loyalty” and I can only hope that anything else on the show will maintain a good sense of humor.

Sadly, the battle with giant anglers is not as fun as the other two, as Gerozaemon and Yaiba’s animal friends mainly just try not to be eaten before others are rescued. On the bright side, this is at least compensated by the last appearance of the four devil kings, which proves to be Mr. Spider. As with this setup, it doesn’t last long, as long as Yaiba quickly drops it down on Onimaru’s castle, the episode ends up back to where Onimaru and Yaiba stare at each other. None of this feels like the episode ends up forming a twenty-four minute distraction, but if we have to get one, I’m at least glad it’s fun. When it comes to original entertainment, I would say this is one of the better outings for the show. Still, I was very happy to see the battle between Big Yaiba and Aminaru finally come into play, and due to how the show performed, I was very happy to see the anime crew finally bringing the table for it.
