You and Idol Precure♪ Episodes 25 – 36 Anime Review – Review

You and your idol PreCure♪ This was not what I was hoping for, and it pains me to admit it. As already mentioned, it’s entirely possible for idols and magical girls to merge – it’s a subgenre in itself. same, Pretty Cure franchise There have been Cures who have worked as idols or otherwise been involved in the entertainment industry, go! Princess PreCure Explore that intersection more deeply. but You and your idol PreCure♪ Efforts are being made to make its two halves merge in a way that feels related. It’s like all the parts are there, but they’re not assembled correctly.
What best reflects this is that the lives of girls as idols and magical girls rarely intersect. They’re idols, doing idol things, and then they’re superheroes, fighting monsters and saving people; aside from their names and costumes, there doesn’t seem to be much indication that they need both to be successful. That’s disappointing, because the story comes pretty close to achieving that in this set of episodes, and, moreover, there are a lot of strong thematic elements and solid use of classic magical girl moments.
Chief among them are Katy and Zachary. Both of them enter the show as villains, minions of Dakin and Jocklin who seek to destroy people’s light. As we discover in this set of episodes, their characters are directly related to their own kira kira being stolen: in fact, they are fairies like Purirun and Tanaka. Their corruption serves as both a stark reminder of what Dakin can do and a ray of hope that her taint can be redeemed, which is especially important when we consider new villain Georgie. Viewers may notice that Shogi looks very much like Hibiki, and the young man’s comment about there once being an important person he misses feels like a foreshadowing that that person was Shogi. Cady and Zachary are freed from Dakin’s grasp by the Healer, and will then engage in a more momentous showdown in which the girls must all work together to free Georgie, in what will become a classic of magical girl literature and remain firmly within it. franchiseYour Own Wheelhouse – Cure Finale via Delicious Party PreCure is one of the latest examples.
It also ties in with Meroron’s storyline, which is one of the strongest threads in Meroron. You and your idol PreCure♪. Astute viewers may have noticed that unlike all other fairies, Meroron’s design features black, which has also carried over to their Cure Kiss and Meron looks. Although this seems to be nothing more than a tribute to Cure Black Pretty Curewhich also indicates their nature. (The subtitles consistently use Meroron pronouns “they/them.”) Meroron’s existence is closely tied to Kirakiland’s legend of the coming of darkness, and the black incorporated into their design illustrates their presence as a link between light and darkness, as well as their personalities. Although merlons have always been annoying (mostly when they’re around prirens), that’s intentional: merlons aren’t all sweet and bland. They’re not as committed to helping their favorites as reformed villains, and they’re not as light and fluffy as Prillon. They’re not even in it for the greater good like Tanaka. Instead, Merolon is only motivated by their obsessive, romantic love for Prillon, which is arguably a more selfish motivation.
In episode 30, Dajin tries to use this to his advantage. Instead of simply converting Meloron (which would indicate their ability to reject her), she attempts to get them to join her side. This means Meloron is more like Georgie and Georgielin: leaders rather than minions. Given Meloron’s refusal to be friends with the other girls and selfish behavior, it’s easy for them to fall into darkness, and even more so since the Heart Kilari Locks just trapped them in punishment for their wishes. But Mellon refused. They realize it’s best to become friends with Uta, Nana, and Kokoro, and embrace the light of Cure Kiss. This is a moment of change and a moment where they become fully human Pretty Cure. Later, in episode thirty-two, this allows them to transform into human Meron Tanaka to fight alongside Purirun (Purin Tanaka), which I don’t think would be possible if they remained hostile to the rest of the team.
Nana has proven to be the best healer at helping people change their behavior. Meloron first struck up a friendship with Nana, and similarly, healing Wink helped break Zakiri out of Dajin’s clutches. Over the course of the series, she develops into a nurturing character who makes others feel safe and a unique and important role within the team, which may stem from her upbringing: she wants to be there for those who have no one, just like how she felt neglected before becoming the Healer. This is another clear and solid character arc in the series, although one that doesn’t get as much attention as Mellon.
You and your idol PreCure♪ Has all the ingredients for a strong season. this Cool It feels like it might be too late to even begin to develop Uta and Hibiki’s relationship further. (To be clear, this doesn’t need to be a romantic relationship.) For every episode we get that’s about exploring the character’s inner being, there seem to be two that don’t touch on that at all, instead focusing on idol-related things (signings, concerts, fan clubs) that don’t move the plot forward at all, or at least very little. turn out Cool It feels like two separate things crammed into one: an idol anime and a magical girl anime, rather than an anime that is organically about idol magical girls.
It’s not too late to change that, and although I’m disappointed, I hope that in the final outcome Cool, You and your idol PreCure♪ can be successful. But it must go all out and solidify its focus. Let’s see if they can end this series in a strong way.
