Episode 4 – SANDA – Anime News Network

I think it’s really impressive to have a show as big and weird as this Sanda A perfect crystallization of all the topics covered in one episode. The fourth episode Sanda Successfully condenses all of the show’s themes and all of its strengths into a well-crafted piece of television. While I can’t say that everyone will appreciate what’s going on here, I think everyone will be able to tell if Sanda Is it right for them after this.

Continuing from where the previous episode left off, Sanda Shot by Santa Claus hunters, he transformed into a mythical figure as his blood stained his clothes. This opening scene is underscored by the absolutely inspired dark and ominous riff of “Joy to the World,” which in my opinion is the best Christmas song ever written. as Sanda While fighting this enemy, he also struggles with what his new identity as Santa Claus means and how his new adulthood will change his identity. This is well reflected in the animation, as many SandaThe movements in his now bulky body seemed clumsy and childish. Emphasize that he is still uncomfortable with his new body and figure out what adulthood means to him.

Fueled by Santa’s naked, frenetic figure, the battle is interspersed with flashbacks of Fuyumura and Ono’s budding queer relationship. In these scenes, not only do we see the two begin to explore their relationship with sex and sexual attraction by looking at classical sculptures and nearly kissing, but we also get a greater sense of how repressive this society is on children. Fuyumura stopped kissing Ono, largely because she wasn’t ready, but she believed the lie fed to them by adults that kissing young people would give them tooth decay. Not only is this a huge moment for the character, but it’s a truly moving look at how messy teenage sexuality can be, how awkward the maturation process can be, and the extent to which adults police this part of young people’s lives.

Later, when Sanda Ono’s fake funeral collapses, and the final big thematic element of the series takes shape. It’s understandable for a group of extremely sheltered kids that when they see a smoke show of an old man falling from the ceiling unharmed, they immediately think he’s God. Considering Santa is essentially a semi-secular means of making children act out under the threat of an omniscient bystander, this, in addition to being hilarious, is also anxiety-provoking. Sanda This is common in the transition from childhood to adulthood. Sanda Not used to people relying on him, nor letting others down, something he and Fuyumura bonded with in the final scene.

of this episode Sanda It doesn’t delve too deeply into its themes, but it makes it clearer than ever what this show is going to be about and gets me excited for what’s to come. The autonomy of young people and how much control adults have over their own lives and development is a hot social issue at the moment and I’d love to know Sanda Weigh in further on these topics. Sure, the show’s concept might be a little too high, but there’s nothing quite like it, and I’m eager to see it tackle issues and themes that most other projects don’t dare to tackle.
