The World Webtoon Awards 2025, now in its second year, celebrates the best webtoon creations from around the world, cementing South Korea’s status as the birthplace of webtoons. Approximately 1,400 titles competed for this year’s honors, with 26 titles being eliminated Nominate September.
At the awards ceremony held on October 22 Lotte Cinema Seoul World Tower, the grand prize was awarded to antique store of the future Author: A-jin Koo. The mystery-themed series, which has been serialized since 2020 and tells the story of a young shaman named Mirae who must stop the demon Baekmyeon from destroying the world, has won praise for its deep Korean storytelling and supernatural flair.
When receiving the award, Koo Yongqiang said: “Watching the announcement video, I was moved to tears. This award gave me the strength to complete this story well.”
The President of the Jury Award is awarded to omniscient reader’s point of viewadapted from XinsongThe popular online novel of the same name. The series has been viewed 2.5 billion times and inspired a feature film and an upcoming animation about a man who becomes the only one who knows the ending of the story becomes reality.
The newly created Readers’ Choice Award goes to Come on or die!voted entirely by fans. SOHEUN drew this series based on DS.Back’s online novel.
