Ado’s “Aishite Ashite Ashite” Music Video Pulled Due to Unauthorized Use of Visuals – Interest

universal music Japan and Music Talent Agency cloud nine released a statement about the removal on Tuesday. Addo‘s “Asht Asht Asht” music video. After an internal investigation by both companies, it was determined that the music video used some creative material from the duo Sashitama (video artist Akatamago and illustrator Sashi Miyama). universal music Japan added: “We deeply apologize for the trouble this has caused to Tama Sasaka, the parties involved and all fans.”
Vocaloid producer Kikuo originally wrote the song “Aishite Aishite Aishite” in 2012. The song had a music video with visual effects produced by Sashitama in 2015. Addoand universal music Japan also got involved and covered “Aishite Aishite Aishite” in 2023 with Kikuo’s permission.
Universal Studios Japan said it aimed to “pay homage to Tama Sasaka’s original music video” when creating the music video AddoHowever, the music production company stated, “Due to insufficient understanding of copyright and neglect of legal review procedures, we ended up using some of their creative materials without permission.”
universal music Japan further said the unauthorized use of the visuals was “entirely the result of deficiencies in our management system,” adding Addo She and the music video’s production team were “unable to advise on obtaining permission or subjecting themselves to the legal review process during the production process” and therefore was not the cause of the unauthorized use.
universal music Japan announced it will take three measures to prevent similar use of unauthorized materials in the future. The steps are:
- Strengthen copyright education within the company
- Strengthen legal review of production materials.
- Develop and enforce guidelines for the use of third-party creators’ works
As of press time, universal music Japan has yet to announce whether a new “Aishite Aishite Ashite” music video will be released.
