Episodes 1-4 – May I Ask for One Final Thing?

Can I ask for one last thing? is one of my favorite series debuting in this year’s Fall Preview Guide. It was definitely the right decision to release two episodes at the same time. The fantastic first episode introduces us to bloodthirsty righteous heroine Scarlett El Vandimeen, and tells the story of how her instinct to kick the shit out of despicable nobles was restricted and repressed for years in an effort to make her family proud and succeed in becoming the fiancé of the terrifying and pathetic Prince Kell von Pallistan. However, Kyle totally screws up when he abandons and humiliates Scarlett in favor of his new love interest, the scheming Treneeza Hopkins, as it allows the Bloodstained Lady to finally break free in episode two, unleashing years of pent-up cries on brown-nosed slavers and ladder-climbers throughout the ballroom. It’s glorious.

In Episode 2, Scarlett survives an attack at the hands of an abused cat-child maid named Nanaka, which leads us directly into the storyline that will be told over the next two episodes. You see, Scarlet isn’t content with just an orgy of broken bones and splattered blood. The “last” part of her request for Trenazalen to be delivered to her delicate, pink Kester was purely decorative. Her world is filled with too much injustice, and her desire for extreme violence runs deep in her bones. People like Prime Minister Godwin are still out there, insulting enslaved races and mocking their ability to be above the law. There are too many aristocratic asses that need an immediate and ruthless whipping.

I should probably point out that I plan to watch the dubbed version Can I ask for one last thing? Whenever possible, because you can tell that the entire localization team is very interested in the task. The subtitles are great, of course, and the Japanese actors revel in the crazy premise just as much, but I couldn’t help but admire the British actors’ ability to deliver on the silly phrasing that fills the script. I’ll never tire of listening Morgan Lowrey So confidently declare that she will give this or that bitch a hard spanking. I must also praise Reagan MurdochIt’s Prince Julius’ turn and how he imitates it Kato WataruToo cool for school grunts and adds a thick layer of ASMR smarts. It’s like a particularly flirtatious V-Tuber becomes the heir to the throne (in a good way!).

Honestly, my favorite parts of the last two episodes have involved Julius and Scarlett’s long-simmering banter, which is surprising because I didn’t expect the show to make such an effort so early on in the pair’s (admittedly inevitable) romance. The sly bastard actually steals a kiss on Scarlett’s cheek, much to Scarlett’s shock, and he even convinces Scarlett to pledge her undying loyalty to him when they infiltrate the Prime Minister’s slave auction house. Of course, this is all technically still under the guise of her letting him watch her beat the ever-cute piss out of the rotten core of the kingdom’s nobility, but even dearest brother Leonardo understands this. I wasn’t expecting this shoe to be released directly at this stage of the game, but to be honest, I’m all for the Sculius Revolution. The enthusiastic Beaver Dragon Knight who can withstand Scarlet’s punches and kicks is a pretty cute runner-up, but…

Interestingly, with the writing so sharp and the characters so interesting, my only real complaint about episodes three and four is the action. it is not badbecause the context of Scarlett’s ass-kicking is still interesting in its own right. You’ll never convince me to have a bad time if Scarlett takes down a dragon almost with her bare hands and runs around in the slave trade like she’s a new warrior and an army of smiths. The Matrix. Unfortunately, the animation takes a very noticeable hit in these episodes compared to the first two, with clunky storyboards and clunky editing only highlighting the drop in production values. There are still decent clips to be found throughout, but they’re much less consistent.

It’s a shame, but it’s also a predictable pattern for today’s productions. The good news is, the story is being told Can I ask for one last thing? This is a really fun movie and I already love the cast. Plus, there’s even a believable twist, like Trenaza using her knowledge as a reincarnated Earthling to bring guns into the world, which is a spin on the villain/otherworld formula I’d like to see more often (but not, like, so Normally, an entire industry would choke on the carrion of a long-dead, beaten-to-death horse, okay? ). Even though the show may no longer look as good as it did in its premiere, I’m sure Bloodstained will bring the same pain and entertainment to people in the coming weeks.
