Despite being the penultimate episode, this is actually one of the lowest episodes in the series to date. There are no assassins, no traumatic mental rest, and no almost no conspiracy. Despite the dangerous threats of this story, it has not yet been realized. Basically, this episode is nothing more than the heroine we meet with her colleagues and walk around the festival.
However, this normality is the key to the plot. Monica’s mission is to observe the “Man’s Sacrifice” (whether it’s Hell) of the local music festival. Felix, on the other hand, is using the festival as the cover of his non-ruling fall deal. However, once they meet each other, their respective cover forces them to be neither prince nor sage, but two young men sneak into a festival and have fun.
The trick is that neither of them is good at this. Monica is a bunch of tightly hurt social anxiety disorders. Meanwhile, Felix is a superficial source—mostly in flirting and gentlemanly behavior, which is basically his survival mechanism against the Royal Court. Of course, this has absolutely no effect on Monica, because she can’t go beyond his words and their literal meaning.
This, in turn, allows them to be honest with each other. Monica didn’t particularly want the prince’s shiny bubble – she felt they weren’t suitable for her, and such a gift had no deeper meaning for it. Felix was reluctant to bend over and pick up the nuts she fell off in the first meeting, which, on the other hand, made those nuts an emotional treasure – a symbol of his heart and how to reach out to her when needed.
Meanwhile, Felix can do something with Monica, which others in his social class usually read – like someone calls him with a nickname, sharing a couple’s cookies or taking a crumb out of Monica’s cheek. But with Monica, he can believe they will occupy at superficial value.
Of course, this happy kid’s date is off track at the last moment of the episode, revealing that local item forgers have stolen artifacts used in the festival – apparently unaware of it a) has personality b) has the power to exhaust the entire area of Mana, and C) can potentially use that kind of mana to cast super magic. It looks like the series will explode next week, if nothing else ends.
