The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced on Thursday that it has certified Japanese singer-songwriter Kenshi YonezuThe 2022 single “Kick Back” is used as platinum. According to RIAA, Yonezu’s single is the first Japanese song to be certified in platinum in the United States.

If RIAA reaches 1,000,000 units, then it is single platinum proof. A “permanent digital download” is a unit, and “150 on on-demand audio and/or video stream” is also considered a unit.
