Bringing Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra to the Fans with Director Yuji Yanase and Producer Yuki Mukai

Nothing like Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra– The Isekai series takes place in a 4x strategic game world where our protagonists (with the help of characters in the game) create and rules for evil kingdoms. It has dark moments, villain protagonists, country building, a huge bug queen and many other things you can imagine that come on your wishlist (I’m sure you obviously have the control). And knowing that this series is so unique, we are happy to have the opportunity to talk to its director, YūjiYanaseproducer, YūkiMukaiabout everything mynogh.

What attracted you Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra Animation project?
YūjiYanase: When I offered the project, I read the original work, and I attracted it because I was interested in an unfamiliar world, such as the story of the game.
YūkiMukai: The work I would like to say belongs to the Isekai Fantasy genre, but since its core puts “evil” at its core, I feel that its dark worldview will make it a noticeably different flavor from other works that adapt to animation.
What do you like to do with this type of work after a title work done in a video game or fantasy environment?
Yinase: This may be just a coincidence, but many of the works I have worked on are works where good people don’t suffer losses and no one dies. I especially like to pay tribute to them because they convey the idea that if you do the right thing you will get rewarded.
top: One thing I really like when a project is based on an existing game or world is working with the team and figuring out how to create visuals that resonate with the audience – of course, while making sure we don’t have any rights at all (laugh).
What do you think is the Atou and Takuto characters that make the audience support?
Yinase: I think the audience will be drawn to see Atou and Takuto happily do things that are impossible in the real world.
top: In the eyes of the world, the two may be seen as “evil”, but when you focus on the relationship between Atu and Tacoto, I think there is a strong sense of trust there. I think this duality further deepens the attractiveness of the character.
What’s your favorite part about the protagonist being considered the villain in their world?
Yinase: What I like is that although they seem to be evil, they are not really evil. Even though Goto and others are seen as villains, I’m grateful for how they try to live their own lives without causing trouble to others.
top: Even if Atou and Takuto are seen as villains, what I like is that they still show unconditional kindness to themselves and those around them. This is something outsiders can’t see, but it’s the driving force behind the protagonist’s actions.
Do you like to play 4x strategy games (e.g. Sid Meier’s Civilization) Just like the one in the world mynogh?
Yinase: Honestly, I never really had much connection with the game and had almost never played them, but I do want to give it a try.
top: I didn’t actually play myself, but I felt that some things were more like a simulation game (where you take your time and really think about it) than a strong action game.
What are the biggest obstacles to portraying a story in a 4x strategy game? How do you overcome them?
Yinase: Since I almost never played the game, it took me some time to fully grasp the world and settings of the game. However, I was able to overcome this by reading the original work repeatedly.
top: In the original novel, it is difficult to grasp every reference or source of inspiration that the author thinks of. However, while creating anime situations, I made sure to consult the authors when necessary and ask our internal staff who are well-knowledged about the game. By doing so, I try to make sure that the environment and worldview expected of the original work is retained.
There is a cruel scene where Artu kills a group of soldiers. How did you get close to this moment?
Yinase: For cruel scenes, I have to be careful to make sure the blood doesn’t look very realistic. I asked about changing the color from red to black.
top: In the early days of the story, there were many peace scenes of state-building, but from this scene in the middle, I saw it as an important turning point, and the story began to take on a more serious tone. The director handles everything from key animation to direction, and I think it becomes a truly memorable scene.
Do you have a behind-the-scenes story that you can share with us?
Yinase: At first, I thought Emle was really cute, but I also like Caria when I kept painting. I really like working for them.
top: If I had to choose an example, it would be episode 3, which has a cut of “Human Meat”. Thanks to the animator’s ad, a cut is created, where the trees dance with the villagers. The director was surprised at first, but after seeing the finished shot, he seemed to really like it (laugh).
Are there any details mynogh Did you want to talk about it but never get asked?
Yinase: Actually, I really like the crazy facial expressions of Caria and Maria. It was so fun to attract them that I was able to get faster than I thought.
top: In terms of visual expression, I discussed with the director how to communicate Landmines The feeling of evil, we set different darkness on the screen. Through this, I think we can express the light and shadow of the character’s emotions.
Do you have any news to share with your fans mynogh?
Yinase: story mynogh It’s far from over, so I hope you will continue to support the anime and the original work!
top: Whether you’re a long-time fan of your original work or discover Mynoghra for the first time through anime, I hope you’ll enjoy experiencing the appeal of Atou, Takuto and other characters through animated, as well as the unique worldview of the series.
