Many people cry at weddings. Most of them originate from the cry of joy, seeing people they love happiness, but I think for some people, crying is for loss. No one got married yes The loss of most measures; even in the bad times of the past, a woman was fully expected to be named after her husband and leave her family for him, it was still a new stage of life. But Anne lamented Diana’s marriage as the end of something, there was nothing wrong with it. thing yes They will be different – as she said, this is the last time Diana Barry kissed her. Of course Diana Wright would, but she wasn’t exactly the same person – by 19th-century standards, she was an adult. Anne is still a child despite her similar age.
At least, that’s how she feels. Anne’s feelings are not always respected by those around her, especially since the Gilbert incident, people are not shy to tell her she made a mistake. Maybe she did; of course, Gilbert seemed better to her than Roy, who had all the personality of cheese. But it was still the decision Anne made and her emotions. This week, she noted, at least in part, the rejection was based on fear of losing a good friend. Once the romantic gets involved, she can’t fully imagine her relationship with Gilbert. I don’t think she’s worried about losing Gilbert, but growing up.
I can understand. Growth is frightening, and change is even more so. Anne’s early life before Marilla and Matthew was so uneasy that she was moved to another home that she would feel very meaningful about the further changes. She was really happy with her friends, but even though she knew she was “should” she couldn’t let herself want the same thing. This is one of Montgomery’s greatest achievements in his writings, where Anne is allowed to fear, resist what she should want, and face Victorian culture. Rachel Lynde may have commented that Marilla has “made a mistake” in the past, suggesting a rejected marriage proposal. But even if not traditional life, we still see Mary La living a comfortable life. (You can even argue for Marilla and Rachel that currently has one Boston Marriage. Little woman because Louisa May Alcott (Probably a pseudo-scripture) makes fans want it to happen and decide to annoy them. Anne tried to tease out a series of emotions, and Montgomery allowed her to do so.
It seems obvious this week that Annie really doesn’t like Roy. She clearly thought she should do this, but all her coma felt very manifested. He put in so much effort in his courtship that she felt responsible (or perhaps emotional novel) to accept him and was delighted with his terrible little verses. But it just doesn’t exist, no matter how much Anne wants to see, there’s more chemistry between Gilbert and Christine (hair from the 1980s). Even Davy and Dora seem to know that Anne doesn’t really love Roy, and Marilla seems to have some questions.
No one can tell others how they feel or how they should feel. The people at Avonlea have not received this message completely, but despite this, Anne is sorting herself out. She may never grow up with fear of change, but maybe, looking forward, she can find a way to make herself more comfortable.

postscript: Anne mentioned this week that she was heading east. Technically, she is already In the East, a term that covers maritime and the northern coast of Maine, so she might refer to Nova Scotia or New Brunswick, probably on the border with Maine.
