From the beginning, we knew that fools were a little…whether they were a person or an individual. After all, each of them has a driving wish – they will give their lives to come true. Of course, behind every wish is the health help of trauma – saying trauma often changes their personality in strange ways. For example, Shuyi was poor and hungry when she was a child, which made her the current huge bran. This week, the focus shifted to the waves and the obsession with footwear.
So far, the episode has often been seen as a joke in the story, but reveals the real horror behind Heeve’s footwear fetish. Basically, as a young adventurer, he and his childhood friends were attacked by bandits. Hef was killed and survived. However, his friend was killed – her legs were cut off so that the thief could steal her boots – and Hef gave her boots.
Since the bandits were covered up and escaped without any problem, the only clue that Heeve found them was those boots. So he was obsessed with checking out the footwear of everyone he passed by – sure the killer to find a friend. This laser focus gradually allowed him to not only read the history of a pair of boots by watching, but also led to the fetish we saw him exhibit this season.
From a basic point of view, this episode is a story of revenge. Heeve found the boots and was heading for his revenge. But there is a deeper morality – one that goes back to the most critical event of the season: April Fools’ Day founding members join the Demon King’s troops. Both Heeve and Menagerie’s April Fools’ Day founding members view their desire as a very personal matter. They don’t talk about it, they want to deal with it themselves. The problem is that this greatly limits their choice. In addition to relying on themselves, they made desperate choices – likely easily making them give their true goals.
But, this is the thing about the founding members of Heeve and Menagerie’s fools: they are not alone. They have friends to rely on. But they care so much about maintaining full control that they don’t even think about talking about things. Can Boxxo, Lammis and Hulemy help the fool’s Menagerie surpass the Demon Lord’s troops and clear the dungeon within the time limit? Maybe, maybe not. But they never even asked-never brainstormed meetings. They just chose the most extreme option and asked our heroes to come and take the car.
Heeve goes the same way in this episode – searching for and murdering the thief who killed his friend alone. But despite his own strength, he is still just a man, and fighting in someone else’s home always puts you at a disadvantage. But when faced with his own work, Heeve can learn not only from his mistakes, but from others’ mistakes. Therefore, our hero joins his pursuit – the fantasy and traps that he may not be alone.
But, ultimately, the most interesting thing about this episode for me is not Heeve’s backstory or even how his mistakes reflect the fool’s Menagerie. Boxxo is performing this task, and that’s the fact. Boxxo is still human in our world when the monster he was killed, even standing beside him when the human traitor was tortured. Just standing on the sidelines and watching his friend brutally murder dozens of men (and sure, totally deserved) what he could actually do? If so, what is this comment on Boxxo – a person who once wanted to be peacefully addicted to vending machines? We have to wait until next week to find out.
