Kenjirō Tsuda Celebrates 30 Years of Iconic Voices – All the News and Reviews from Anime NYC 2025

KenjirōTsuda Today known as one of the most prolific voice actors in anime, he sat on New York anime to discuss his 30-year acting career. Tsuda revealed that he initially performed through high school drama and is a big fan of American films and directors such as Spike Lee. He initially wanted to start filmmaking and was accepted into film school, but he said he was not a particularly outstanding student and could not organize the scripts of the film. He then decided to research the performance to learn more about the film, but gradually became more involved in the performance and eventually began to be a drama actor. As time goes by, he ends up in a H2. After the transition between dramatic works and sound performance roles, he eventually brought Seto Kaiba’s role to the Give it to you!this is an important launching point in his career in anime.

He also talked about some of his works outside of anime, including drama, voiceover for “American Live Movie” and some of his roles in Japanese-language films. He said that while he sometimes takes different acting methods, depending on his project type, he tries to keep the core of his work in every role he plays. He also managed to realize his dream of being a film director. He said that although he didn’t have much experience, he felt it was very different from working in front of the camera and that he had to have more knowledge about production. One thing he said was important to him because the director was keeping a stress-free environment for all the live and voice actors he worked with. He also said that while his career has not led to his work in any live-action films in the United States, he hopes to have a chance one day.

When asked about more information about his career in sound performance, he revealed that he had never really been trained in sound performance and was basically overhead training. So he initially found it a challenge to figure out how to match the rhythm of the sound to the animation, but now that he has more experience, he noticed how animators sometimes change the animation of the scene to match the rhythm of a particular performance. After making sounds for many anime productions, he believes that the work an animator does to bring characters to life is as valuable as a sound performance, and he respects much of the work they do. In preparing for the role, he said he usually does as much research as possible and if he plays a major role, he puts a lot of energy into their debut. He believes that a strong first impression of the character is very important for sound performance. Despite his long career, Tsuda mentioned that people usually don’t recognize his face, but joked that he is often recognized by his voice. He also noticed how he expressed many animals in his career, but many people tend to have a bad temper.

Once he answered the question, Tsuda was asked to give some random motivational speeches to the audience, which caused laughter. His last words to his audience are to thank them for their support and their positive words on social media. He claimed that he actually received a lot of information from his English-speaking fans, and a lot of it was the main reason why he wanted to come to the United States to do a group. He said he was grateful for his decision to continue his acting career allowing him to meet so many enthusiastic fans and hoped that those fans will continue to support the anime.
