Episode 6 – Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube

City legend has long been a fertile source of Japanese horror media magazines. Teacher Hell: Jigoku Sensei Nube This is no exception, with a direct adaptation of the story “Teketeke” which was previously the theme of at least two low-budget live-action movies. The rather terrible gist is that at some point in the past, a young girl was split into two by a train, and then her legs-free spirit chased the careless, asking them if they “still need legs” and then tearing off their limbs.

The poor barely impressive Makoto noticed his business, streaming a generic Tokusatsu show, and he kept following him as the algorithm redirected him to Mr. Horrific’s creepy stream about Teketeke. Mr. Horror’s prey against the vulnerable prey has freed them from their wisdom about Teketeke’s spirit, convinced them that even hearing the story would mean that Teketeke will visit within three days for amateur body modification surgery. Makoto swallowed Grift hooks, lines and pendants, desperate to become a paid subscriber to the Internet Charlatan channel just to learn the “real” spell to stop Teketeke’s limbs from unimpeded progress. His wise mother’s refusal to such nonsense would only put his anxiety in trouble. Like our own world, social media influencers are the true source of everything evil.

As the poor lad began to spread hysteria through the school, including the permanent Ritsuko, Nube lacked communication skills to ease Makoto’s fear. As Nube notified other students (but not Makoto himself), Teketeke may appear because of Makoto’s fear. Apparently today is the absolute best day for Makoto’s parents to work at night, leaving the trembling Latchkey Kid alone in the dark, empty house, and of course Teketeke emerges from the shadows under his desk (a proper disturbing scene) and chases him through the corridor.

Always looking for the well-being of his students, even though a few words of his might have prevented the whole situation, Nube bursts out and saves Makoto. Although he used the Demon’s Hand, it was not out of violent intentions. Instead, he used it to make Makoto sense Teketeke’s real motivation and history, which was very tragic. Teketeke is just an ordinary schoolgirl whose spirit is desperate to move on, but the fear of those who hear her story makes her a ghost of revenge, tethering her to the world. She was trapped in the terrible hell created by others, and she could only move on after being forgotten, or at least once she was no longer afraid. I like that the supernatural issues in this episode are resolved through compassion and compassion rather than violence and conflict, and the entities in question are also rarely victims. Although Mr. Horrific’s due and bloody fate is somewhat cathartic, I fear that his company’s live broadcast will only cement Teketeke’s story in the public consciousness, which means her purgatory survival may last for a long time…
