Episodes 1-3 – Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube

Even though it is based on comics from the early 1990s, Teacher Hell: Jigoku Sensei Nube It looks more retro than what its retro suggests. If I were told that this stupid, plotly, supernatural comedy was a product of the 1970s or 80s, I would believe it. It’s real, old-fashioned kiute action animation with proper huge, sharp hair character design and storyline, in one episode gegege nokitarō. None of these are bad things, because I love retro, pre-digital anime and Teacher Hell: Jigoku Sensei Nube Pleasantly painted aesthetic itching.

Nube’s source of psychological power appears to be a left-handed sealed demon, which is deformed and claw-like, usually hidden in gloves. It seems Nube is the original Chuuni, waving a hand with demonic energy. There seem to be a lot of other anime and manga to draw inspiration from Teacher Hell: Jigoku Sensei Nubeor at least from the same cultural touchstone. This is especially evident in the third, more independent plot, where the children find the school plagued by a “midnight honor student,” a mysterious entity who cleans up the classroom and wipes the blackboard after get off work.
