Episode 15 – To Be Hero X

I think a lot of people are watching people realize that Ghostblade is the stalker in the Loli episode. So, this episode immediately plays two things: 1) Ghostblade’s origin story, 2) reconnect his behavior in Loli.

Ghostblade is one of a kids from a large family who ends up feeling like there is no need to talk. He cherishes the rarest thing he grew up with: silence. He falls quietly and emotionally (and feels comfortable killing animals), and he dreams of becoming an assassin, keeping the world temporarily quiet for a moment in the process. Of course, although this happened eventually, it was different from what he expected.

Like DJ Shindig, he was one of the first wave of heroes created by the FOMO app, where social media platforms inadvertently create superheroes through posts that spread. Ghostblade is regarded as a kind of silent beauty, which is exactly what he has left, which is what he has left, and despite his young face, Ghostblade is by far the oldest of the top ten heroes. But, like many heroes, trust is a double-edged sword. Although he doesn’t mind being unable to speak for his whole life, it has become a major issue since he wants to try to build a relationship with his estranged daughter. This connects us with Nuonuo’s daughter.

Ghostblade is largely antisocial and emotionally hindered. It was not until 18 years later that he realized that he not only loved his daughter, but wanted to build a relationship with her. This prompted him to try to get to know Nuonuo. The problem is that he is treating the whole ordeal, like planning an assassination: follow the targets and observe them. Worse, he didn’t see his impact on the situation – for Nuonuo, he was a stalker who scared her. Instead, he thinks Loli is wrong with Nuonuo’s troubles throughout his life, not his influence. So we left behind a person who was both dense and dangerous – someone who saw Loli as an enemy, seemed to be with her.

Last week, I lamented that it felt like Loli stood out in her plot, not only was she not a hero, but her story was drawn to the 11-hour twist involving aliens and trust/fear metal. Fortunately, it seems her story will continue in the next episode of Ghostblade as he, Loli, Nuonuo and Loli’s father investigate the collapsed UFO. This situation not only has great legendary potential, but it can explode at any time.

While the story told in this episode is good, that doesn’t quite offset the Elephant in the Room: Animation. For some reason, the director of this episode chose to portray all the flashback scenes in a blurred, shaky paper. While it looks good – even great – in the separate still frame, it makes me motion sickness as I look. Worse, it’s not just for one or two scenarios. Most of this episode is done in this artistic style. Too bad, I can’t believe that no one in the animation team vetoed it. After all, getting your audience sick is a huge mistake, so I docked a star from the score. Thankfully, since we caught up with the Loli story in the schedule, there are no more flashbacks. I was just lucky that I was watching in my empty belly.

• When you think about it, it’s crazy. Loli is a girl who trusts double digits, fighting the fourth-ranked hero in the world using a prototype suit built with spare parts.

•Ghostblade requires treatment. Neither he nor his family would understand this is a pity.

•So, it seems Ghostblade, Queen and Lucky Cyan are all present when Little Johnny rampages. I think we’ll see all this working in Johnny’s arc.

•So Shang de founded Treeman Corporation after his son died (Uncle Locke killed his son), and worked at Mighty Glory. Now, Mighty Glory has electronic music, Ghostblade and Dragon Boy, while Treeman has only one top hero: Lin Ling. Yes, this looks confusing.
