Have you ever read a volume of a comic book and will you end up feeling upset? When I first picked up Watari-kun’s **** is about to collapseI look forward to a semi-cold story about two siblings trying to persevere in a new environment after losing their parents. What I got was a series that felt like trying to be psychological horror, with almost every character having a little bit. However, I can’t tell you exactly why, because this is a story that is very close to the breasts. It won’t give up all the secrets right away, but it’s really enough to make you realize that things might be better than what happened in the first place. That was that book, or it did a great job of doing it, allowing me to jump out of the shadows when nothing was there.
Our protagonist and titular character just do what he can to be a reliable brother, even if he leans towards overprotecting territory. This makes sense, as he and his sister bounce around an unreliable group of relatives after their parents died. This story makes it very well determined, and although the relationship between him and his sister tends to be interdependent, it is completely understandable. With similar settings and different tones, I can see it as an adult or exciting story about gaining independence while still respecting the bond of family.
Instead, I’m not sure what story this story is about to tell. The character on the cover of this book is a complete mystery to us, because it is obvious that despite some moment in the past she is in trouble with our protagonist, she is hiding something. However, when almost everyone in this volume shows some uncomfortable personality transfer, it is hard for her to act as weird weird. Even fourth-year students have these small hints. None of this is shown in the writing itself, because it does not necessarily mean anything that gives it. Instead, it’s all about the tone and the presentation. You are not sure if the characters respond to things in a natural way, or if they respond to things in a too uncomfortable way. I will do a great job for me very uncertain about what happened and that will provide a lot of honor to this series.
The speech is very basic, but it makes the moments when certain things are done better stand out. This book relies heavily on less and more ideas. Sometimes, you don’t need a detailed background to convey a specific emotion. Sometimes you only need a blank black background to portray uncomfortable character implementations. Sometimes you just need to dig into the student in your eyes to make someone vaguely threatening. The character design is universal, and the overall presentation does not need to be written home. But it does feel like the author is doing something more sinister than the one originally proposed.
It feels a lot like this story might be playing with many taboo ideas, such as incest, but at least in this volume, it doesn’t span any lines. In the first volume, we are still in the slow-burning thriller, but I can see that we reach the reward point in the future volume. The book feels like I’m watching someone slowly wrapping around the guitar strings. I can’t tell if they’re tangling it because they tune the guitar naturally, or because they want the wires to flicker, and that’s the uncertainty that the story is good at. I need to read more in order to get a better idea of the story being told. If you’re looking for a relatively simple premise, looking for something more disturbing and chilling, it’s worth a try. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
