Episode 11 – The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity

I love Rintaro’s mother. I know this episode had nothing to do with her, but the thousand little ways she loves her son and pays attention to him add an extra layer of sweetness to the show, like the cookies Rintaro baked on top of Kaoruko’s birthday cake. She supports her, both silently and loudly, so when she’s needed (like when his dad “jokes” that if Rintaro wants to help in the store, it’s every day of the summer), all her actions show that she’s there and that she cares. Without her support, I’m not sure he would have adjusted so well. Parents can’t prevent all bad things from happening to their children, but they can support their children through it. Rintaro’s mother is obviously one of the good ones.

I think it was her support that made Rintaro even seek help from his father in the first place. It’s not that his father is a cake-baking monster who neglects his son, but he clearly works longer hours than his wife. As a result, Rintaro spends more time with his mom, but she doesn’t hesitate to let him know when his dad would be more appropriate to help him out – like in the matter with Kaoruko’s birthday cake… despite the look on her face when he asks about the swanky cake shop priceless. Rintaro argued that this was exactly what teenagers would ask; his store couldn’t be the coolest, could it? (Plus Kaoruko has had a good, authentic taste of most of their wares.)

Another best character award this week goes to Subaru. In fact, she got this opportunity last week, when she let Rintaro know that Kaoruko’s birthday was coming up. This is a great example of doing something just because it will make someone else happy, and it shows that even though Subaru feels uncomfortable in front of these guys, she respects Kaoruko yes And wants to do whatever they can to make things easier. She even managed to make the class celebration Kaoruko’s birthday back This important day gives Rintaro the opportunity to celebrate with Kaoruko. It was precisely because of Subaru’s discomfort that he thought more deeply. If you have such a friend by your side, you must cherish her.

The day itself is the simplest part of the episode, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t charming. From both arriving at their date so eagerly and nervously early, to Rintaro’s embarrassment at having Kaoruko open the cake in front of everyone, everything they say and do shows how passionately serious they are about their blossoming relationship. That Kaoruko barely got to wait until she got home to try a piece doesn’t speak volumes about her love for it all Cakes and more for her passion this Cake – This is not just Plain’s cake, it’s also a reflection of her relationship with Rintaro so far. It shows that he sees her and cares about her and that he wants to do something special for her. If it weren’t so touching, it would be almost tooth decaying.

but that is Fragrant flowers bloom with dignityof maximum strength. In a smaller story, this would be unbearably cheesy, like an anime-style Hallmark movie. It will read as unrealistic, sentimental, and a cheap attempt to capture young love in a corny way. But instead, it’s a captivating and beautiful journey about two people finding each other, supported by actors who love them, respect them, and are good characters in their own right. Not all romances work out. This one is done with style.
