The popularity of reality shows series Mr. Kim’s dream life This resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of readers of his original webcomics.
Naver WEBTOON reported on Friday that the webtoon’s views increased more than 30 times between October 25 and November 7 compared to the two weeks before the show’s first teaser video was released (September 11 to 24).
The drama is adapted from Song Hee-gu’s best-selling novel and its webcomic. It tells the story of a middle-aged man who loses everything he once valued and embarks on a journey to find his true self beyond the title of corporate manager.
Created by Kim Byūng-gwan Kim and serialized since 2023, this webcomic has resonated with readers with its down-to-earth and emotionally resonant storyline, with more than 10 million views within a month of its release.
To coincide with the release of the live-action series, Naver WEBTOON also released a 10-episode side story that tells the story of Mr. Kim’s early years as a new employee who later became the “old-school boss” in the main series.
Currently, the webcomic is not available in an official English version.
