Episode 6 – A Star Brighter Than the Sun

The tension of “will they/won’t they” can make or break a story. Stay too long and the story loses its flavor, especially if you throw too many opponents into the mix who don’t stand a chance. Speed up the pace too much and the fun of the chase is lost; they don’t have to wait a whole season to get together, but it wouldn’t be great if they were a happy couple in the third episode. Fortunately for all of us, stars brighter than the sun seems to have found the right development for the romantic plot: we know Sae and Koki like each other, but they are Still figuring it out…and moving in the direction of confessing my feelings at a very natural pace.

Although at this point I’m kind of wondering why the whole school hasn’t figured this out yet. While the sparkle around Koki usually indicated how happy Sae was to see him, the look of joy on his face every time he noticed her definitely wasn’t that – that was 100% Koki. The girls in the tennis club seem to be more or less aware that whenever the football player needs to get close to the fence, it’s going to be him, and the fact that the football seniors all notice where Koki’s eyes are (and respond appropriately to the teen with teasing) seems to indicate that it’s pretty obvious to the two of them… or at least Koki is. (Sae might say that’s because he’s more memorable than she is.) So if others don’t see this, maybe they just don’t want to.

In Sui and Kagawa’s case, they may have believed her when their friends said there was no way he could fall in love with her. I really like that about them; they’re very supportive and invested in making sure Sae is okay. They were both smart enough to realize that even if they suspected that Koki reciprocated her feelings, Sae wouldn’t believe them because she had already established the opposite in her mind. Their job is to support her, not harp on her, and they take that very seriously. Or at least as seriously as possible – the suggestion that she transferred her crush to Izawa is frankly ridiculous, although I do think they’re right about him being obsessed with her. if she have Still, if one were to try and change a love interest, Ayukawa gets my vote…he’d probably feel the same way, even though anime hair color rules seem to indicate that Kagawa is his love interest.

But what’s really important about this episode is that both Sae and Koki are ready to take action. Koki is clearly uncomfortable with the idea of Sae liking someone, so much so that he almost says he hopes the mysterious “other person” rejects her so he can comfort her. Knowing that she liked someone—and that he encouraged her to do something about it—sparked a fire in him that I half-believed he would have blurted out if his mom hadn’t walked in at that moment. Almost everything he said and did expressed his concern for Sae, but she wouldn’t believe it unless he said it himself. It took a lot of courage for him to ask her to meet on Sunday. I daresay he’ll make the most of this opportunity, especially since he won’t have to contend with his mood-killing mom.

I finally had the chance to…uh, remember…well, well, I didn’t realize there was an English dubbing Before this week, I don’t know how I missed it. But I ended up watching it anyway, and I’m happy to say it was better than many movies. Amazon A dub I’ve heard before. Maxwell DonovanKoki is very serious and does an especially good job during Koki’s reluctant role as the Cowardly Lion, which I really enjoyed Anjali KunapaniniDelivered as Kagawa’s dry. I like Isabella Crovetti and Minoru Fujidera Like Sae, my only real one dubbing What I am complaining about is that I think Yuki LunaSui’s voice is a little too breathy and high-pitched; I found her lines grating in my ears. but i will watch dubbing Again, especially if Koki’s delighted mom makes another cameo appearance.
